Job Description
We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to work Temporary full time, 5 days a week as an Advanced Practice Solutions employee at a Health Clinic in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This assignment will go for at least a year and the hours are Monday through Friday from 8am - 4:30pm (40 hours a week)

Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities):

Perform assigned clinical tasks under the direction of a registered nurse including: administer medications, injections, and immunizations; spirometry; tympanometry; apply minor dressings and splints; connect patients to portable monitors; nebulization; glucola; and urethral catheterization.
  1. Set up for and provide direct assistance to health care providers with medical examinations and procedures including: colposcopy, IUDs, implantable birth control and other minor surgery.
  2. Perform simple specimen collection (e.g., blood sugar monitoring) and more extensive specimen collection including: blood draws, sputum sample collection, urine sample collection.
  3. Perform hearing and vision screens and developmental testing. Obtain patient information and medical history including: current medications, allergies, chief complaint, immunization schedule and pharmacy.
  4. Perform basic patient care activities including: place patients in rooms, take and chart vital signs.
  5. Report deviations from normal, response to treatment, and changes in behavior.
  6. Assist in emergencies.
  7. Under the direction of a registered nurse, provide patient education from standardized teaching plans (i.e. teach crutch walking and inhaler use).
  8. Perform clerical duties involved in registering and scheduling patients, transcribing orders, maintaining telephone communication, and maintaining specific unit documents.
Clean equipment and rooms. Procure, sterilize, and stock equipment and supplies to ensure that equipment is operable through quality assurance checks.Participate in quality improvement activities.

Licenses and Certificates: Certification or eligibility for certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
